Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Ben1

Why not simply use WPS to connect it?

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

I tried this this morning, but the TV didn't respond; the TV was right next to the Hub 6. I will try and find a guide to using the TV, as the supplied documentation is very scant.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

I think I may be making progress. I have got the smart plug to work; the password it expected was the Initial Wireless Network password, not what I thought was my current router password. Is the admin page at 192.168.1.254 the place where I can see and changed passwords if I need to?

Tomorrow morning I will retry connecting my new TV.

Yes enter 192.168.1.254 then select Advanced settings and select wireless then enter your admin password, you can then change your security password for your network or your Network Name  Or select system if you wish to change your Admin Password

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Yes, all this shows why people use the same password in several - if not all - places. At the moment I have two passwords for Plusnet (one for the members site, the other for these forums) and two passwords for my internet provider's various websites, and another for the IMAP login and yet another for the SMTP server. Authentication should be simpler than this!

Thank you guys for your replies.

The way internet things do sometimes, this morning my TV has miraculously attached itself to my router. So I am happy, I will find a way of simplifying all my passwords (Lastpass helps though).

Yes, when there's nothing obiously wrong with the cabling or the connection, reboot often helps set things up.

I'm about to trash the plusnet router they gave me and give the BT hub a try.

Does the BT smarthub 6 work if I have a static IP? Or it makes no difference

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Hi guys. I need some help with my bt hub. I buy brand new Bt Smart Hub (Type A) and try to connect them to my Plusnet. I do everything exactly how was described in first post, and My Hub doesn't work. I connecting Hub to power supply, log in on home page, making reset, turn off smart setup, typing in my username and password and Hub can't reach connection. I click on "connect" button and as well can't connect to my plus net network.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

You obviously are doing something wrong,

Check and re check.

Do not connect the dsl cable until you are ready to connect

Check you are using correct  plusnet password the one you use to connect to your member centre not this forum.

then the correct username ie

youreusernamed@plusdsl.net

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Hi, I've just ordered Plusnet BB, although not being switched over till the 24th, I would like to buy a BT router in advance. I have found a new/sealed one called "BT Business Smart Hub" Item Code "088315" "BTB EI/SI 4.0" , I've attached a photo below, would this be the correct one? Many thanks in advance.

@Butternut what are you looking for in the router that the new hub2 won't give you?

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

BT Business Smart Hub" Item Code "088315"  will work with Plusnet when set up as instructed on this thread.

The shell of the Old Business hub is similar to the BT Smart Hub

where as the New BT Business Smart hub 2 and Normal Smart Hub2  is more rounded and similar to the the New Plusnet 2 router but different colour.

I would have thought it was to early to buy the New Business Smart Hub from an auction site, so you may receive the Old style.  but all should work.
