Using others modem/router

Until a few weeks ago all was working fine using a Netgear DM200 modem and a Netgear Orbi RBR50 router.

The suddenly could not access internet. So swapped out modem for another of same model, still no internet.

So connected a Netgear R8000P router still the same.

So what I would ideally like is someone who has a Netgear modem router setup to tell me what the settings should be. Years

ago I took a screenshot of the settings but of course cannot find it now.

One main question do I answer yes or no to the question asked

Does your internet connection require a login?

If yes what do I put in for login details is it xxxxxxx@plusdsl.net  or just xxxxxxx ?

If no asks for account name but only says input if required.

Am very confused can only try so many combinations so an answer to the login or not is a good starting point

Thanks

Re: Using others modem/router

@bogart99 Yes, your connection does require a login - usernamw@plusdsl.net and your password.

Screenshots of the setup screens would help others to help you.

@bogart99

Does your internet connection require a login? Yes

If yes what do I put in for login details is it xxxxxxx@plusdsl.net  or just xxxxxxx ? its accountname suffixed by @plusdsl.net . Password is the one you use to access the member centre https://www.plus.net/member-centre/login

@bogart99 That all looks OK to me - can you get a connection?

Re: Using others modem/router

No as evidenced by the 2 latest screenshots. What I do not get is even though is set to capture dynamic address from Plusnet it does not as shown by last screen shot having no details for IP port.Screenshot (62).pngScreenshot (63).png

Re: Using others modem/router

You need @MisterW on this - he is more clued-up than me - but the 10.x.x.x.x IP address looks a little wrong to me.

Re: Using others modem/router

The 10.x.x.x is only the LAN subnet, that's not a problem , its likely the default for the R8000P.

TBH I'm not familiar with either the DM200 or the R8000P but somewhere ther should be a VLAN ID of 101 set for FTTC to work. This is normally done by the modem (in this case the DM200) but I'm not sure where its set.

Cheers, @MisterW . Networking isn't my forte, just thought it may be related.

Re: Using others modem/router

Finally got there problem was  DM200. For some reason had set itself back to Modem and Router and not just a modem.

Unsure why as nothing was switched off between it working fine and problem occurring at least if happens again I kjnow where to begin looking. Networking will never get my head around it.

Thanks for the time and effort guys👍
