I agree that they are rare, however the AVM FRITZ!Box 7690 can do FTTC and Wifi 7.
Given that your FTTC will be replaced by FTTP probably within the next two years, you might be better off "future proofing" by buying a router (without built in modem) that fits your networking requirements and has a WiFi standard that matches the devices you have or anticipate owning.
While waiting for Openreach to deploy FTTP, use an external dedicated VDSL2 modem such as a DrayTek Vigor 130 or Vigor 167 (both cheap on eBay) which will provide superior connection stability and speed on your copper landline, that can simply be removed when you upgrade to full fibre.

Thanks for the suggestions and I think that the modem and a router is the way forward for us if we are moving to FTTP next year?

NO. If you provide the error log, as has been requested numerous times in this topic, I suspect we will discover you have defective kit.
The Hub2 is perfectly capable of dealing with FTTP, as it only functions as a router - the modem on that system is in the ONT which will be installed as a part of the upgrade installation.

To retrieve the Hub Two event log, for simplicity this should be performed on a PC. via WiFi or wired connection
Provided you are running the default IP Address range,click on http://192.168.1.254 this will take you to the hubs landing page 'Home'
Navigate >Home >Advanced settings >Technical log >Event log Use the Export option to download the event log to your PC download folder.
↓ use the paper clip found below the post window, once attached it can be checked.

Point of order!
Surely there is no "modem" in the ONT as the PON, being a native digital network, has no need for modems which translate between analogue and digital signals as with traditional analogue landlines?

@pvmb The ONT performs the function of the modem, in that it converts the light signal into a signal the router can understand.

...But both the optical and electrical signals are digital. Is that not rather a case of media conversion? e.g. a microphone (air pressure to electrical analogue conversion) is described as a 'transducer', not a "modem".

I don't really care - the signal received is still converted, whether via a modem (for ADSL/FTTC connections), or the ONT (for an FTTP connection).
As it is a Sunday, and I have other things to do...

Our TVs, the Firestick, the laptop and both our phones are all WiFi 6 capable. As suggested by a poster, router WiFi 7 which is backwards capable and a separate modem should future proof us to some extent and can be used even if we go FTTP at some point in the future. Even if there is no fault with the Hub 2 maybe it is time to upgrade anyway? However the decision is whether to hang in there or not until FTTP arrives.
What we have noticed is that on some occasions to load a streaming app can take awhile, but not sure if the issue is the FTTC, the app or the wifi signal from the modem. On average our speed is 68Mbps and Wifi link is 886mbps. I suspect that the download speed probably drops depending the number of people streaming, using data etc in our village. I appreciate that you cannot push out more than you can get in.
Although an after thought and not really that important to making a decision about upgrading, our son lives in southern Africa and has mentioned gaming to me although I have never been into games, but it may be interesting to try. He has told me that we could play against one another, but I am not sure how that would work? What would be nice is to be able to converse with him using the laptop with something like Whatsapp. Sadly if you use Whatsapp on a laptop, it can be a hassle to get it back on your phone.

@Surfer Providing the Hub has not been factory reset, the log - when it appears - will give anyone able to interpret it sufficient information. I don't know how big its memory is, but from experience, it can go back a long way.

Sadly if you use Whatsapp on a laptop, it can be a hassle to get it back on your phone.
Not that I have found, I often have a Win 11 (using the windows app) and Android phone both active on whatsapp at the same time.
Regarding the event log, how far can you check back as the router has not shut down for about 10 - 14 days or maybe longer?
The majority of events stay from the time the Hub was first powered up, a factory reset clears the log and it starts a fresh.

Thanks. Sadly I did a reset a couple of weeks ago just in case that cleared the issue.
Not sure about Win 11 and Whatsapp on laptop as last time I tried it was when using Win10. it stopped Whatsapp operating on the phone and gave me a headache getting it back on the phone. Also tried it using the 2023 Samsung tablet and had the same issue as it only used wifi and no sim card. Apparently it is something to do with the number?
