HI
Bought one of these today and spent far too long not getting it set up. Just want to check settings even though I've phoned support and they said they're ok, must be the router... not sure I believe that
I've got Unlimited Fibre Extra with a static IP address. If I try and connect with VDSL or ADSL it just doesn't want to connect up. If I try with a IP address setup then the TP-Link setup tells me either the subnet mask, gateway, dns server is the wrong format. Even though the details were confirmed correct with PlusNet
Tried just about every combination I could e.g. username with or without the plusdsl.net at the end, PPPoA or PPPoE, you name it I tried it over about 2 hours.
Anyone give some advice other that phone TP-Link?

General settings are here https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/
Even though you have a static ip leave the setting as assigned by isp. Plusnet will automatically assign the correct static ip
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

I'm afraid I've been through those a few and no change.
It does look like the username and password are not being accepted. I have checked these through the helpline and they log me into the account ok. Putting in...
username@plusdsl.net
password
The router doesn't really give many logs to check further but that's what is coming up as an error in the web page.
Good info about the static IP address. ta 👍

@g7kse which exact model of router do you have?
Are you able to show a pic of the WAN screen on the GUI - saying you have tried everything does not really help anyone help you. The settings are fairly basic, so the chances are it is just a simple setting that is not quite right.

@g7kse - Has your account always been with Plusnet ?
I ask because my Plusnet account started life with ISP 'Force9' back in 1999, and the "Username" that I enter in to my Plusnet connected router isn't in the format 'account_name@plusdsl.net', but is 'account_name@f9.co.uk'
I suspect there will be other username variants for other original ISP accounts that didn't start life with Plusnet.

Not been with PN for that long, just a couple of years or so. checked the @plusdsl.net with the helpline.
There's 3 images here. The simple login window
A more useful window
And the error message.
If I'd not checked it a million times I would say that the login details are wrong, just re-enter them. I think unless there's some other way, its a password reset

To me that error message looks like the TP Link didn't like the format of something in the username or password,
rather than reporting that a xDSL PPP login attempt had failed for some reason.
Does your Plusnet account name or password have any 'special' characters, other than the usual 'A'..'Z', 'a'..'z', '0'..'9', '-', '_'
The other thing that bothers me, is that it is telling you VLAN info about Australian and New Zealand networks.
VDSL routers and modems ARE region specific, with different line impedances, Annex A or B, and RJ11 wire pairs used, etc
Does the TP Link you have, definitely have 'UK' region makings on the device label, and/or packaging ?

If were me I would factory reset the VR2100 and start again, before starting I would create a new secure password using Alpha and Numeric characters only.
You need to ensure the DSL cable is connected to a active xDSL (where x = A or V) connection before you start, the modem attempts to detect if its ADSL or VDSL on first switch on.
Follow all the steps for the quick setup, select United Kingdom, with the ISP drop down select Plusnet, and add the PPPoE username and password VLAN 101, continue to the end setting up your required wireless setting.

4 hours of faffing is too much. All I wanted to do is be able to run PiHole and you can't seem to do that with a HubOne.
mega faff...so give up

When you connected up the TP-Link are you using the same socket the Hub One plugs into? With the DSL cable connected does the DSL light come on?
Did you follow my instructions in my last post?
The settings you require are
It asks for: | Use: |
---|---|
Broadband username or login name | yourusername @plusdsl.net |
Connection type or encapsulation | PPPoE Always On |
Password | The password you use to log in to the My Account |
VLAN | Active |
VLAN ID (802.1q) | 101 |
VLAN ID (802.1p) | 0 |
If it does not work then the conclusion is the AC2100 is faulty.

You can use LAN4 as a WAN connection on the AC2100 (set in a menu).
Would you be able to do what you need with your AC2100 "behind" the Hub 1 (so the AC2100 LAN4/WAN plugged into the Hub 1 LAN port?
This would have 2 layers of NAT but should work (LAN4/WAN needs to be set to use DHCP to do this).

As an alternative to your suggestion would be to disable DHCP on the Hub and enable DHCP server on the pi-hole.
