Router Faulty

I've had my router for quite some time now and it's starting to show signs of its age.
It turns itself off intimately with no lights or activity how do I go about ordering a new one

Thanks

The easiest way to sort this is to ring Customer Support tomorrow and ask for their advice.

Yeah, I've known women like that !  Shocked

However, if your router is turning off intermittently, the most likely cause of that is the mains power plug failing.

Is the power adaptor getting unusually hot, buzzing, or whining ?

If you have the power plug from a previous Plusnet or BT router, if the DC plug fits, then you could try using that to see if the problem disappears ?

If you still want a replacement router, you could get a far better device from Argos, eBay, or Amazon, rather than simply putting up with yet another Plusnet Hub Two who's design is well past its best before date.

If you do decide to get a different router, consider what you'd need after your next upgrade, for example if you are on FTTC now then get a router that is also capable of handling higher speed FTTP when it becomes available, or perhaps a built in phone socket that allows you to have a VoIP landline phone, or traffic quality of service controls to make browsing more responsive, better WiFI standards, etc, etc ...

@MrDonaghey

Just a note, if you currently use a DSL cable (NOT WAN) on the Hub you will need a modem/router.

For a router only device for Full Fibre (using WAN port) follow the instructions for "If your fibre router is connected to a BT Openreach modem"

I am wondering why you didn’t call Plusnet and ask them to send you a replacement router?

Re: Router Faulty

It was early Sunday evening, and I thought the offices would be closed, so I was hoping for an e-mail or something to contact.

Thanks for all the help Smiley

Re: Router Faulty

What would you recommend as a better more secure router than the hub 2? Explanations and prices please.

Better would depend on what you are trying to achieve and for what purpose. Put another way, what functionality do you need that the Smart Hub 2 does not have?

More secure? https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/How-secure-are-the-Hub-2-routers-and-ways-to-keep-them-secur...
