I'm trying to set a reserved IP address for a particular device that so that I can access its inbuilt web server more easily. I've found it in the Address table in the router management interface but when I click on the "Always use this IP address" nothing happens, it as is this has been disabled.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Your description of the difficulties you are having suggests a Hub Two, two things to try.
You need to be in Advanced settings >My Network >My Devices
1) Turn the device off and try setting to "Always use this IP Address"
2) Give the device a fixed IP Address outside the DHCP range, if you use this method ensure you set the default gateway and DNS IP address.
To me the DHCP GUI on the Hub two is less than satisfactory and a bit quirky

Yep, using a Hub Two
1) I was already in Advanced settings >My Network >My Devices, tried turning it off clicking Always use..., still nothing happening when I click on the switch. Turned back on, refreshed still nothing on click.
2) Can't edit the IP address in router management app, it looks editable but as with Always use... it is not. After a bit of digging I've found the configuration entries for setting a static IP on the device but I cannot get that to work either, the configuration entries I am using are:
type=static
addr=192.168.1.10
mask=255.255.255.0
gw=192.168.1.254
The only one I am not sure about is the gateway, besides 254 I have tried 255 and 166 which has a device name of wlan0.
I have just noticed that the router seems to allocate reserved ip's at random, it has given my phone one. Unsurprisingly the functionality to switch it off does not work for that either.
"less than satisfactory and a bit quirky" is somewhat more polite than I would describe it. I've done this on so many routers before and it has never been an issue.
I did speak to support about this but they were unable to help, they don't appear to have any networking specialists on over the weekend.

The default gateway address address would be the same as the Hub Two IP, the default being 192.168.1.254
ipconfig /all in a command box show provide this answer for windows, only included the important lines
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . ... . : <IP address of the device>
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . ... . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
If being used by the device DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254

Thanks for that. So it looks like my settings were correct but they did not work.
Not really sure what to do now, I've set the lease time to 21 days, which is the max which will help but may have to just live with it. Don't really want to buy a better router now because at this moment Gigaclear are digging up my road

Last thought, the Hub only has three LAN port, not using WAN port in error?
Maybe a factory reset of the Hub might help?
You could buy a router as the Hub Two can be configured as a modem (bridge mode), just need the space for the extra device

No, only correct three plugged in with most things hanging off the switch it sits next to.
I don't really want to go through a reset as I use a custom network name and on past experience even when you set the same SSID and pwd lots of things will not reconnect seamlessly and I don't have the time to fix everything, and as I mentioned we are getting fibre to the premises soon so makes sense to wait until then before buying any new network hardware

As a reminder what are you wanting to do, connect to a web server locally and from the internet?
Is the server now able to connect to the internet and request pages using a browser? As this would confirm the device is connected to your local network.
For port forward rules provided the hostname is used rather than the device IP Address and the hostname is not changed the rule should work even after an IP Address change.

No I just want to access it from within the network. It is a 3d printer and it has an internal webserver so I can monitor it without running upstairs to the spare room. If it has a different ip every time you turn it on that become a lot more hassle.

This is very odd, I find some wireless devices drop off network when they hibernate or go to power save mode.
Can you ping the device at all times ping -t <device IP> -t switch will continuously ping the device, ctrl+c to stop

When it is on DHCP, yes I can ping with single digit response. When I tried to set a static ip then there was no ping. I was using ping to test static addresses as I know it returns a ping and that cuts out other potential problems

I'd leave the printer to DHCP for it's IP assigning, from my experience the devices usually renews the already assigned address when the lease expires and even retains the address on a reboot, some routers don't do this and clear the DHCP client list down on reboot
To me it looks like the "Always use this IP Address" works as expect with a system running windows, android, IOS or linux
I never had these issues using a Hub One, in the early days of me using the Hub Two at one I was desperate enough to create my own DHCP server using a retired tp-link router, but back to the Hub two now.

Yeah, that's the same conclusion I came to. The odd time it does allocate a new address will just mean up dating some favourite links. The firmware on the printer is regularly updated so hopefully the will give it the ability to have a name which would make everything simpler.
