Plusnet Hub One Router being Supplied With YouView+ TV Package

We've been on fibre for 18 months with the BT VDSL modem & the Plusnet Sagecom 2704N router & the system works really well with zero problems & good WiFi reception all over the house although the house has ethernet points in most rooms so we only use WiFi for a tablet & a smartphone.

We've signed up for Plusnet TV but it seems we're getting a PN Hub One router as well as the YouView+ box.

Do we have to use the new combined Hub One modem router or can we still use the existing BT modem & 2704N router or does the Hub One perform substantially better.

We believe in the old adage of "if it ain't broke, don't mend it".

New one is dual band which provides faster wifi streaming on the 5gHz band; unsure if the 2704n offers this.

The 2704N is only 2.4gHZ but we only use WiFi for limited internet browsing, emails etc. & never for streaming so that doesn't matter to us.

On balance we'll probably use it as we've just checked & it has 1000Mbps gigabit ports as opposed to the current 10/100 ports & the house is hard-wired via a 1000Mbps hub between the router & the patch plate.

Our PN YouView+ box arrived today but as the router hasn't arrived we've set it up with the existing 2704N router & it's working just fine.

Hi @caravanj,

I have checked this for you and can see that the new Plusnet Hub One was dispatched yesterday so you should receive this either today or tomorrow. When this arrives just follow the set up options in the manual and remove the Openreach fibre modem as this will no longer be required for you to receive Fibre services.
