@Dan_the_Van

"Using a tablet or mobile can make things worse as browsers modify the display size to fit the device screen, this can be ignored by setting the browser to use 'Desktop site' but the text may become very small."

Looks fine on my mobile using Opera browser.

Dan

As far as I can tell, the router is OK.

I am still annoyed that a change was made to the security settings on my router without my knowledge and permission, especially as the HTTPS requirement is actually redundant.

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 new firmware forcing https

I understand your frustrations, but ultimately plusnet own the Hub Two, they have a duty to keep it updated, both BT/EE Hubs have gone through a similar firmware update program.

I might suggest there should a mechanism to notify customers of planned Hub updates, but being in support for many years before retiring, sadly the majority of customers are unlikely going to read the notification.

If you prefer, you could consider using your own router. This will give you more control, with a highly configurable device to suit your needs.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 new firmware forcing https

I believe they were compelled to make this change due to the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act (PSTI)

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 new firmware forcing https

I don't think the act said "any upgrades necessary to comply shall render the device useless to the end user without multiple reboots and endless hours of resetting."

I still don't understand why accessing the router using https results in 15-30s of thumb twiddling before the home page appears.

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 new firmware forcing https

Since doing the factory reset, I previously mentioned, I can access my hub with no problem from mobile as well.
