Plusnet Hub 2 and TP Link Deco M5

Hi

I am just about to do a firmware update for my deco which I use as a form of parental control. I am told by the Deco info that I need to 4G or 5G router to do this. Does tge Plusnet Hub 2 do this job ?

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 and TP Link Deco M5

If they are referring to your WiFi connection to the router (you can always use Ethernet!) then presumably they mean Wi-Fi 5. which is 802.11ac. The Hub 2 supports this under the 5GHz Wi-Fi link and Wi-Fi 4 under the 2.4GHz link.

@hellebore1625

I assume that you are using the TP link app on your phone? From my reading of the manual you simply go to the advanced settings and select update. Is your question whether the update is delivered over the mobile network or via the Plusnet connection?

The question as far as I can see is whether the update can be downloaded by the Deco, then installed or needs to be delivered over a separate medium, i.e. the mobile network an d updated 'on the fly'..

If you can't get an answer to this, probably your best bet, if you are worried about the the use of mobile data, would be to make sure that your phone service supports WiFi calling and hope for the best.
