Plusnet Hub 2 Update

My Plusnet Hub 2 hasn't had an update since 2023. I understand the updates occur automatically but I'm wondering if I've dropped off the radar for some reason.

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 Update

Same here (0.10.00.4201). However the sticky post at the top of this section says the current firmware is 0.11.01.11071-PN, but doesn't give a date other than the post itself "last edited Thursday" .

Does that mean it's very recent?

@Stoker Yes, it is very recent, and will not have been rolled out to all Hubs on the platform.

@dvorak  --  It's great that there is a sticky with the most recent versions of Hub/Router firmware....  Is there any chance of including a date along with the version number, something along the lines of "rolled out starting 2026-06-08" just to get an idea of how new/old it is...

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 Update

Well, I got it today. Or at least, I got it overnight around 5am (I've been leaving the router on overnight especially!) and it was applied this morning after I restarted the router - as, before the restart, it was reporting latest update as 10 June 2026 but still showing the old version above it.

Firmware version: v0.10.00.04201-PN
Firmware updated: 10-Jun-2026
--------------------------------------------------
Firmware version: v0.11.01.11071-PN
Firmware updated: 10-Jun-2026

Can go back to turning the router off overnight, now. 😁

It's kind of annoying, as you now have to log in just to inspect the router's Status page.

Anyone found a way around this? 😉

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 Update

Way to go 🙄

Now click my router link and go t a forced https page. Click on "Switch to https" link and get the Warning unsafe page. Another link to click to proceed away from safety until I get to the router homepage. Why can things not be updated without breaking them?

Our company has self certified certificates and has issued them to individual users to install. Surely it isn't beyond PN to offer this to customers too, or auto install it?

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 Update

Might be interesting to see how  other ISPs implement this - my Fritz!Box 7530 is still only HTTP , so I'll see how that goes if/when it changes.

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 Update

You should only need to accept the browser warning once, as once it's been accepted it would added to the Certificate Exceptions list.

Providing your browser is not configured to clear these on close, then you shouldn't be prompted again (until the Certificate is changed).  Also as mentioned above, if you've got a bookmark saved, update to it HTTPS to bypass the GUI warning/splash screen.

Agreed though, it's not a graceful user experience.

If it's of interest, AsusWRT did something similar a while back: -

Re: Plusnet Hub 2 Update

@bobpullen Thanks, but I'm not thinking of changing my kit.😉. I will just see how it goes, but I'm a little surprised at the change, although I can appreciate that HTTPS is obviously more secure.

What are the real risks, though?

Very small!

Yes, without https, you are passing the router access credentials in plain text, but since router access is normally only possible from your private LAN, unless someone on the LAN is snooping, then there's no problem. Now if you were to open up router access from the internet (not recommended and not possible on many routers) then that's a different ball game!
