PlusNet and use of BT Halo (using BT WiFi Disks) and avoid changing existing WiFi settings.

Hi, I just started with Plusnet FTTP today having moved from BT FTTP Broadband. Both full fibre. I found that the BT WiFi Disc used to extend WiFi home coverage does not work with the Plusnet hub 2. I thought would be a real pain to cover the whole of my house WiFi now. Also, I have about 30 WiFi devices which means it's a real pain to update all of their SSID and passwords.

The simple solution is to change the user name and password in the BT smart Hub for Halo (BT WiFi Disc) to that used in the PlusNet broadband service. This allows the BT WiFi discs to carry on being used and saves having to change all your WiFi settings.

BT does not require the return of their Smart Hub and but charges £30 to non-return thier WiFi Disc. Obviously, if you require the use of the BT WiFi disc you keep both. They allow about 2 months for return before they charge the £30.

You can change the broadband user name and password to PlusNet using the BT hub admin access over either WiFi or via a ethernet cable. just google this at BT.

There are other blogs here that go into a lot of detail. Note there is not a Save button so once you have made the changes go back to home page within the admin settings from the advanced settings used to made the profile changes and return to it make sure it has been saved. Then connect it up.

Best of luck. It not difficult. can be done in less than 10 minutes.
