Optimising Settings for Gaming

Hi all, been a while! Just wondering, bought a Samsung TV which came with Xbox cloud gaming pre-installed. Being an old skool gamer from back in the day thought I'd give it a whirl. I wasn't expecting anything miraculous to be fair but sometimes it was quite good. Problem is it is running on wifi and when everyone is in streaming TV in other rooms it becomes unplayable.

 I notice there's 2.4 ghz and 5ghz channels on my hub 2 router which got me thinking, could I set the rest of the house to 2.4ghz and have the one tv on 5ghz? I noticed when reading the bumf hub 2 doesn't split wifi bands although my hub 1 does (See attached) so maybe that isn't even an option.

Are there any other settings I could tinker with in the router that would give the TV precedence or optimise it for gaming?

According to Xbox there's a setting to switch the tv for gaming mode but I can't appear to find that on mine, the only option I can find appears to be if something is connected through the HDMI. 

Tv's in a small extension I recently built, how I wish I'd run cat6 to it now instead of a coax I didn't even need! Running cat no longer an option.

Does the other end of the coax go anywhere near something else with an ethernet port ?

If you Google "ethernet over coax"

you'll find articles like this - "How to convert your home's old TV cable into powerful Ethernet lines"

and cheap adaptors on Amazon, e.g. "Coax to Ethernet Adapter" amongst many !

I have no experience of trying that, but it looks like it should work well enough for what you want.

Unfortunately not mate although ethernet powerlines could be an option. I rewired the extension on a new circuit which ended with a double socket one the end of the ring main next to the router. Used them back in the day and the speeds were never anywhere near claimed. Not sure if they have moved on these days or would even be an improvement?

Given you know where the coax cable runs is there any possibility to use it to "pull through" an ethernet cable. Given the likley usage you probably get away with Cat 5e which is more flexible than Cat 6.

Modern power adapters can cross modern power circuits. Other's might be able to recommend suitable ones for you to have a look at.
