Meaning of Wi-fi light on red

Hi
I have a one hub router with connections issues.
The is a red led that looks like a wi-fi symbol - is that supposed to be on ?
I can't find a clear user guide for this router on the Plusnet net site that gives explanation of what the leds mean .
Anyone got a link for the usermanual ?

Thanks
Paul

Re: Meaning of Wi-fi light on red

Hi Paul,
That light suggests one or both of the two Wi-Fi radios is disabled.
Try browsing to http://192.168.1.254 and navigating to your advanced Wi-Fi settings and see how things are configured. You will probably need the admin password of the router to log in with when prompted.

Try a factory reset of the hub by pushing a paperclip or similar in the reset hole. Hold the switch closed for about 30 seconds. It will take several minutes to reboot and connect. On a hub one only the big blue light should be on.

OK - perhaps I'll try that.
I'll have to gather the re-set info first .
Or make a backup ?

Re: Meaning of Wi-fi light on red

I'd try and avoid restoring from a backup after factory resetting if possible. If there's some misconfiguration that's causing the LED to illuminate then there's a good chance restoring from teh backup will put things back in the 'bad' state.

At the time of writing, you have nothing connected to the 5GHz radio at all.

You also look to have at least one additional Wi-Fi access point on your network e.g. you have a Google smartphone connected to the network at the moment and it is not connected directly to the Hub One. It's connected to something else that is broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal.

Re: Meaning of Wi-fi light on red

Hi @bobpullen
Are you able to see our network?
Yes your correct there is a another WiFi AP connected (hardwired) to the Plusnet router it is in an outbuilding so I don't think it would be interferring with the Plusnet Wi-fi .
Good point about not restoring from a backup - depends on remembering the broadband set up  username and password .
Can you remind me of the default admin logins ?

@tetatate

The admin and wireless passwords are on a label on the hub along with the wireless SSID.

After a reset the hub will automatically configure itself and enter your account username and password.

I think the username / passwords were on a removable card that is now missing
Are they not all the same ?

@tetatate

They are all different.

There should be a label stuck under the place where the pull out card is retained. If that’s been removed and lost you will not get access to the hub.
