I cannot go a day without a WiFi problem

Hi there.

My problem is that I cannot get all my phones, Amazon Echo's, Printers, Tablets etc connected to the Wi-Fi.

No sooner do I think they are all connected when somebody shouts that their iPad isn't connecting, or the Wi-Fi won't connect on the printer.

We have 2 ethernet connections to a laptop and tower PC which work perfectly.

I have tried changing the W--fi channel (dozens of times) tried resetting the router, and unplugged the router and open reach box for various lengths of time (once for over 24 hours)

Nothing seems to work.

Turning them off may fix the immediate issue, but then you go to your phone or tablet and surprise surprise they are not connected, and will not connect (asks for the PlusNet password which then comes back as "this password is incorrect")

I've been with PlusNet a good few years now, and consider myself fairly tech savvy, but this is just defeating me.

Luckily I am not in contract, but would like to try and sort this issue before I move to another fibre provider.

Just to add I am using the older PlusNet Hub zero 2704n router and an open reach box.

Re: I cannot go a day without a WiFi problem

@stuleg Welcome to the forum.

There's a known 'feature' of the 2704n. They will only connect to a minimal number of devices over wireless, I'm not sure of the exact number but it's in the teens.

If you take out a new contract Plusnet will send you a Plusnet Hub One, which is a one box solution, this is a bit better dual band device.

For even better WiFi performance go on to an auction site and buy a BT Smarthub 6. They go for very little money. You will find the setting instructions pinned to the top og the Router board.

Re: I cannot go a day without a WiFi problem

Many thanks for your reply.

The limited number of devices it will connect to on WIFI sounds like it could be the issue.

What with 4 Amazon Echo's, 3 iPads, 4 smartphones, WIFI Printers, and other stuff, it soon adds up.

I'll pop along to eBay now.

I believe the number is 12.
