Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

If Safeguard is enabled, you're automatically assigned the appropriate DNS addresses, there's no need to change anything in the router.

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

@bobpullen Is that a new thing Bob? The debate and advice was different at the top of this thread - abstract below. It never worked for me and PlusNet advised a total workaround.

Bump.

Okay, my Hub One, despite waiting days and using several power down/ups, refuses to use the DNS settings for Safeguard. Since there's no way to manually control the DNS settings I guess it's supposed to be done when handshaking with Plusnet on restart - but it's not.

Is this normal? Is Safeguard precluded from people with Plusnet's own supplied hardware?

Not new, that's how it's always worked. If that's not your experience then something is wrong with your RADIUS subscription at our side. With the manual workaround, is the service actually blocking anything?

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

Hi @bobpullen - I didn't even bother with the manual workaround because it was a non-starter for me. I do know that the DNS look-up on my Hub One didn't change over to the safeguard settings, even after a restart and a decent wait. (I have had a static IP from you some years ago if that's relevant?).

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

At the risk of sounding clichéd, have you tried toggling the service off/back on? If not, give that a go and let me know if there's still no change. I'd have to refer it to one of our engineers but we may be able to fix your account if there's something wrong with it.

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

Hi @bobpullen - I tried that multiple times before posting to this forum some months ago. I'll give it another go but I'm 99.99999% sure it won't work. Giving it a go now.

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

Okay @bobpullen - I've switched it back on and will restart my router once I can turf no.1 son off his PS4. One funny thing - looking at the web portal and the settings, I'm seeing nothing under the 'Change log' tab. I am getting confirmation emails that setting have changed however, but nothing at all under the change log.

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

No luck @bobpullen - 3 hours in and router still reports...

Primary DNS: 212.159.13.50
Secondary DNS: 212.159.6.9

Still able to see some, ahem, dodgy websites.

Can you get someone onto this please?

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

Right, it transpires that the underlying problem that's led to your account being in this state has since been fixed. There are a number of customers though (yourself included) whose accounts are in a 'limbo' state where the varying back-end databases aren't aligned properly. Good news is, we're intending on fixing these accounts. Bad news is, it probably won't be until next month when our next code release is scheduled.

Thanks @bobpullen - how does Plusnet intend to keep those affected updated when the fix goes live?

Re: How to change the DNS server setting on a Hub One

There is an expert setting on the hub one that can be accessed however, tinkering around with that is at your own peril.
