Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

Yes, the Openreach ONT LAN port to the blue WAN port on the AX72.

Use the tether app to setup up a new device for

"Internet connection type" - PPPoE  using your account username in this format accountname@plusdsl.net

"Password"  - is the one used for the members centre.

IPTV/VLAN is set to Off

Happy to answer any further questions.

EDIT: just a thought what are the TP-Link wifi extenders you tried and do you still have them?

Thank you so much!

Router is due to be here tomorrow or Monday so will give it a go!

The extenders i have are RE300 / AC1200 wi-fi range extender:

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

I would suggest changing the wireless network name and password on the AX72 to be the same as the Hub Two, save you reconfiguring wifi devices.

Unless you have given any devices a static IP Address I would use the AX72 default range

The RE300 should work as a One Mesh device for the AX72, but they do need a good wifi signal to work effectively, might be worth trying once the AX72 is working is up and running.

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

That's the plan, no need to re-pair anything.

Once you've got a internet connection working.

Using the Tether App select  ->More (bottom right corner) -->WiFi settings

If you use a PC, with a web browser you select 'Wireless' icon on the main page.

Hopefully what you are looking at will make sense.

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

This while sensible especially for a myriad of low data rate devices, surely runs the risk that the PC will (continue ?) to run on 2.4GHz band and won't give any speed changes at all

Either there has to be a new separate network name for the 5GHz (so the PC can be forced to use it, and forget the old ID left to serve slow things on 2.4GHz) or the PC has to be explicitly told to use 5GHz - which could have improved things on the PlusNet router anyway.

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

@mwwagain

There can be value splitting the wireless names, but for me I've not had to, for me WiFi 6 devices always connecting to 5GHz.

The Hub two does not allow the wireless channels names to be split.

Edit: The first post might be worth a read!

Use an app on your phone to check the Wi-Fi channels in your location. You may find that moving to an uncongested one is all you need to do.

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

Well D day has arrived. And I have failed miserably!

I have tried connecting the AX27 directly to the box in my wall... everything fired up lights on ok... but no Internet connection.

So tried piggy backing it to my plusnet hub2. Again, all lights on but still no Internet.

I've followed all the steps on the tether app and I can't get it to work 😫

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

I have my hub2 cable from the WAN port into my wall modem.

Then I have the eternity cable from the new router plugged into gig ethernet port 1 on the hub2.

Is that right?

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

Fix

@mariavmcdonald

As you are full fibre you do not need the Hub two.

Openreach ONT (modem on wall) ethernet cable to the AX73 WAN port which should be a blue colour.
Using the tether app make sure you are connected to the AX73 wifi name.

-> Quick Setup -->Make the internet connection type PPPoE

Username - this is your members username with @plusdsl.net added

Password - password used for the members centre.

Hope this helps..

IMPORTANT EDIT: - you need the AX73 to be in Wireless Router Mode

Re: Horrific Wifi Speeds - adding in TP Link AX72

Thanks Dan!

I stupidly logged in with the wrong username when I first logged in. I have tried rebooting the router to get me back to the beginning, but it just goes straight to connecting device.

Any idea how I can get back to the first stage to actually put the right login details in?
