@mattsando - done. You'll need to drop and re-establish the broadband connection.

Thank you. Turn everything off (ONT, clients, devices, etc... included) and back on again?

@mattsando - just the Hub Two should do it.

Re: FTTP > Hub Two > DNS - Internet ‘does’ every night

Thank you. I have rebooted and I’ll monitor.

How long do I have a static IP for?

@mattsando

Attached!

Thanks for posting the log, there's still quite a high number of wifi connects/disconnects.

However, let's see what effect @bobpullen s application of the static IP has. I suggest initially we concentrate on seeing whether that fixes the problems with wired connections. If it does, then we can start to look at wireless issues.

Re: FTTP > Hub Two > DNS - Internet ‘does’ every night

Ta. I've only been back online for a few minutes but - and I don't want to jinx it - but it seems markedly better. There's 3 websites I'm using for work that are notoriously bandwidth heavy and all 3 are loading almost instantly. nThey're a good canary down the mine for internet issues

I'll continue to monitor

I have a lot of wireless devices - plugs and lights.

Are there specifric ones you want to know about? I can probably tell what they are from their mac or description:

AURAs are picture frames

L510, L630, L900, P100, P110 are all smart plugs or smart bulbs

Don't know what  T-PF5D989L is

@bobpullen  I've not had a single drop so far since rebooting/IP change

Yes, they look like Tplink Tapo devices, i have some of those. IIRC they are 2.4ghz only devices.

Don't know what  T-PF5D989L is

Looking at the log , its MAC address is ec:4c:8c:37:90:ec which is an Intel device. Its connected to the 5ghz network so my guess would be a laptop with an Intel wireless NIC ?

but let's leave things alone for a while and see what effects the change in IP address has...

Re: FTTP > Hub Two > DNS - Internet ‘does’ every night

It would seem like we possibly had/have three different issues at some time over the last few days

1) The problems with the 146.200.79.X  IP range which would have affected all devices

2)  Wireless devices regularly losing connection

3) The Tenda MW5 messing up DNS assignments

Lets monitor for a while to make sure that wired devices are now ok and therefore that 1) is now not part of any remaining issues.

Ta. I do think that 1 & 2 are the same issue.

If the IP was an issue, how can that be resolved? I didn't think that PN doled out Static IPs anymore?

3 can be solved easily, I think, by only using the Tenda Nova MW5 in PPPoE mode, as the router, and directly wired to the ONT - excluding the Hub Two completely.

Re: FTTP > Hub Two > DNS - Internet ‘does’ every night

Ta. I do think that 1 & 2 are the same issue.

That MAY be the case. If devices were detecting they couldnt 'phone home' , then they MAY have been deliberately reconnecting to attempt to resolve the problem. After monitoring for a day or two, we'll be able to see from a log whether they are still disconnecting.

If the IP was an issue, how can that be resolved? I didn't think that PN doled out Static IPs anymore?

That's technically correct, a user can no longer request a static IP.  However they are capable of being manually assigned in some circumstances. I'm sure Bob will be looking into the possible issues with the IP range and any static IP  will remain until its resolved.

3) can be solved easily, I think, by only using the Tenda Nova MW5 in PPPoE mode, as the router, and directly wired to the ONT - excluding the Hub Two completely.

Correct, but lets not change anything at the moment until we're sure that 1) is resolved. My concern with the Tenda doing the PPPoE would be performance. If you have Full fibre 300 or faster, I'm not sure that the Tenda can 'hack' it. For example I use a TPlink ER605 as my primary router, it has a dual core 880mhz CPU and without any NAT offloading enabled (which the Tenda doesnt have) it maxes out at around 300Mb. With offloading, its perfectly capable of handling my FF900 connection. Note that my ER605 is not doing any wireless either, I have a separate AP for that.

On the case. I'm expecting a problem to be identified/fixed, or alternatively those ranges quarantined until it is. Either way, as soon as it's 'safe' to, I'll remove the static IP assignment.

Agreed - I don't dare make a change at the moment with it working perfectly
