Connecting to USB Raid from Plusnet Hub Two in Windows 11

I am not technical in this area so need some help please. I have an 8gb RAID 5 disc array. I was advised that I could connect this to my router to be able to access it via devices on my network. I upgraded to the Hub Two as I was also advised that this had the USB port to enable this to happen. All good so far. I have now plugged the RAID device into the USB port, but do not know how to map to it in Windows 11. It seems to be recognised in the admin console, see attachment.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Connecting to USB Raid from Plusnet Hub Two in Windows 11

Might be some tips in this thread, https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/USB-Sharing-on-Hub-2/td-p/1887653

Though I also seem to remember that the hub2 only supports and old smb version which is disabled by default on newer operating systems due to security issues, which also might be a reason it's not showing.

Re: Connecting to USB Raid from Plusnet Hub Two in Windows 11

In terms of enabling SMB 1 in Windows - you need to enable it in Windows Features

See:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/troubleshoot/detect-enable-and-...

Section: "Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11: Add or Remove Programs method"

Worth noting - I have seen some windows updates switching it off again

Re: Connecting to USB Raid from Plusnet Hub Two in Windows 11

Thank you. I think it is the SMB1 issue. I have messaged Plusnet in the hope that they will release a firmware update or similar to fix this. Otherwise the USB port is redundant and it was the reason that I switched to Plusnet hub2. I don't want to switch SMB1 on due to the security issues. I'm using Windows 11.

Re: Connecting to USB Raid from Plusnet Hub Two in Windows 11

Potentially you could use a 3rd party router if they have better USB support and the correct authentication method for Plusnet connection.

Seen Draytek routers with USB ports - although I don't know if USB 2 or 3 and don't know what version of SMB it uses - likely worth investigating if this is a significant issue for you.

(But they're business routers, not cheap, and take some setting up)
