BT Smarthub 6 Business & VPN

I  bought a VPN for a year, just curious no particular need for it.    set up on two machines  Windows 10 pro  &  Windows 11  Pro   works as it should,

no noticable lag today. may slow down around   5pm- 8

PIA techsite says you can run a VPN on your router UDP  but because Routers generally have low CPU + RAM equiv to an older Windows 98 PC Router   so your router will have reduced performance approx 10%   etc etc

Any ideas, is anyone using a VPN on the router instead on the PC Windows VPN APP they have?

regards

E

@Empire

I'm 99% sure that you can't install a VPN on a Business Smarthub, which makes the question irrelevant.

VPNs work by sending the connection 'around the houses' and will always have some effect on performance.

Re: BT Smarthub 6 Business & VPN

thanks B, i see after diging around you cant, you can only change Port to 500, via Port Clamping, it appears this aids/helps VPN  service which are on your PC/Latptop wherever.

re VPN speedtest now 7.00PM   peak period ( i guess )  on Boris's Beer & Chips  Island  its down a little,  marginally not noticable unless you measure.

I sent a message to my VPN Co. asking whether or not it worth having Cloud Flare 1.1.1.1   as setting on wireless & ethernet adaptors. awaiting reply.
