BT Business Smart Hub Type A - no FTTP Option

I have purchased a BT Business Smart Hub 6 which states it is the FTTP option and has the red WAN label above the 4th Ethernet socket on the back.

I have connected it to a PC to set up. However, when going to the Advanced menu/Broadband, there is no FTTP option to toggle.  I am currently on FTTC using an earlier BT Business Hub without the labelled WAN ethernet socket, and purchased this replacement in preparation for moving to FTTC in the New Year.

Has anyone experienced similar?  I carried out a factory reset of the router when I first applied power.

Thank you

@RG58

There is nothing to toggle. Simply use the red WAN input instead of the DSL one. If you are currently using this on FTTC it really is as simple as changing the input cable.

Re: BT Business Smart Hub Type A - no FTTP Option

Thank you for the extremely quick response.  I was following the BT Instructions that showed a switch to toggle on that page (see attached).  Must be out of date.  Cheers.

I am trying to set it up ready to swap out and use it on my current FTTC.  So far, I have just changed the password and username.  I will be trying to "clone" all my settings (a lot of port forwarding etc) when I can have the internet down for an hour or so.

Re: BT Business Smart Hub Type A - no FTTP Option

@RG58

I suspect that this is a matter of the model. It is over 6 years since I played with different Smarthubs. These were the original beasts otherwise called at the time Smarthub 6, as they replaced the BT Home Hub 5. I also played with what was sold as a FTTP model and found that by using a modem I could toggle between using it in either FTTC or FTTP mode. See: https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-a-FTTP-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-FTTC-Service/m-p/165176....

The information that you are quoting isn't for a Smarthub 2, rather than the original Smarthub?

Why are you choosing to use a Smarthub in this day and age? Apart from you being unable to separate the 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless bands, it has all the same features and performance as the freebie (apart from P&P charge) of a new Plusnet Hub 2.

Re: BT Business Smart Hub Type A - no FTTP Option

The reason I use the BT Hub is simply the issues we had getting our Ring Doorbell system to have a stable connection via the 2.4ghz WiFi. Maybe a modern Plusnet Hub would be better but this one was only £13 including postage and I like and know the interface. We also found the WiFi range was better than the Plusnet. Again, maybe the newer models would be different.
