Browser cache could be the issue but I see in your first post you have tried multiple browsers and a second device.
Do you rebooted you PC when it is attached to the 2704 or just moved the network cable across?
When you see the connection was reset message are you able to ping 192.168.1.254?
It might be worth taking a lot at this https://www.alphr.com/the-connection-was-reset/ it may or not help!
My preferred option would be to recycle them and get a device that supports 2.4 and 5 Ghz
