Signing up to installation

If i sign up to plus net today for broadband, how long will it take for installation to be complete as I need it to be done within 12 days in order to not receive an early termination fee from my previous provider.

Re: Signing up to installation

@Bekky What service are you on with your current ISP, and what do you want from Plusnet?

EDIT: I  note your Full Fibre tags - is that what you are currently on?

@Bekky That doesn't sound right. Surely, the early termination only applies if you switch before your contract expires ? if its after that then there are no ETCs , you just go onto the out-of-contract rate for a short period with your existing supplier

as @jab1 says, the time taken will depend on what product you currently have and what product you are ordering from Plusnet

Re: Signing up to installation

@MisterW
I spoke to virgin this morning and they say I am on a 14 day cooling off period with them so if the switch over is done before those 14 days are up, i wont get an early termination fee. If it's after the 14 days then I'll have to pay the remainder of the contract before cancellation which would be 24 months worth of payments.

Re: Signing up to installation

In that case @Bekky , I honestly doubt you will get Full Fibre installed in 12 days. Do you have a BT/Openreach line into the property, even though it will be a 'dead' one?

So, you have only just signed up to Virgin?

@jab1
I have no idea as I am in temporary accommodation.
There was another line installed when we moved in (unsure which company) but when virgin came round to do the installation they cut all the wires for the other one.

@jab1

I've been with virgin for years and years but only just renewed a contract with them yesterday.

Re: Signing up to installation

@Bekky ok, so it will be a new Full Fibre install. That will require an Openreach engineer vist and so timescale will depend on engineer availability in your area. Its unlikely to be less than 10 working days.

Have you recently re-contracted with virgin then ?

Re: Signing up to installation

@MisterW
Yeah, the new contract starts today.
If i called plus net, do you know if they'd be able to tell me when the soonest would be for installation before I commit to a contract with them?

They would be able to give you an 'estimated' date, but it would be just that, 'estimated'. Only once they've placed an order on Openreach would there be a confirmed date, and even then if Openreach have engineer availability issues e.g bad weather then the date could be pushed back.

why do you want to change from Virgin ? if you just want broadband , then surely you can cancel the other services with virgin if you are in the cooling off period, just leavin broadband

It is very much a matter of engineer availability - I had just seen FF installed within 4 days of ordering - ordered Monday, installed Thursday, in very similar circumstances - Virgin service (equipment) already in the property and other services chopped off.  One wonders if that is VM's way of doing things?

@Bekky your best option is the PHONE the Plusnet sales team.
