@ColinKent it could be a temporary problem with either the Openreach service or the O2 network.
Do text messages to other numbers work ok ?
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Is this the issue discussed recently regarding BTOR using MMS messaging rather than plain SMS?

i'm trying to reply via my iPhone if that's of any interest.
i'm moving across from Talk Talk due them not being able to provide satisfactory support.
It would be somewhat frustrating to be left without a service as i can't reply to a txt from OpenReach.

Strange, as I had zero issues doing exactly that when my FTTP installation was done.

spoke to PN support and they were aware of the SMS MMS situation.
So that's a positive.

Have you checked the setting for the message app?
Not iPhone user but check if there is an setting which looks wrong for just SMS sending?
Other than that I would suggest phoning plusnet

tried several variations of turning on/off
iMessage/MMS/SMS
nothing made any difference.
However i have spoken to support over the phone and they have confirmed this should not be an issue and it all looks clear at their end.

@ColinKent is this an FTTP order where an ONT already exists in the property ?
If so, then Openreach will try to test that the ONT is working. The initial text is to check you have access, once confirmed they will then ask you to make sure the ONT is powered up. So if you do have access, then check it is powered and leave it so.
If Openreach can't test the ONT , they will change the order to 'engineer required' which will likely delay activation.

the line has always been rock solid..
it just whenever there is a fault (not often) i get stuck in this merry-go-round with Talk Talk
Hence why im moving.
