@oscaracosta

Use this version of the Checker. Enter your post code and select the address from the drop down menu.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

Post the results on here. If Full Fibre is available then you don't need a copper line - the fibre runs all the way to an Exchange. It appears as WBC FTTP on the Checker results.

Re: Openreach - argh

@oscaracosta Said "It's fibre74 whatever that is".

I believe that is a SOGEA line, i.e. FTTC Fibre To The Cabinet with no phone service.

Full Fibre 74 would be FTTP - Fibre To The Premises.

@oscaracosta Can you please confirm if it's FULL fibre or just fibre in the service description. Confusing I know, but they are very different.

Re: Openreach - argh

Got the screen grab but can't post it from my phone as no option to add pictures which is a bit odd.

Someone will explain the setting on your phone (try website view or similar). But in the meantine does it say WBC FTTP or in the narrative below Full Fibre isn't available.

@HPsauce

There is also a 74Mb FTTP product.

Similarly named products and folks not knowing what they have bought can make offering the right advice a tad difficult.

A connection of some sort will be required, but it will not be a “telephone” line and has a fair chance of being different to that blown down by some long passed storm.

Chasing fixing that has a limited chance of sorting the connection.  A wedge of patience is required for a reschedule.  Working from home does require a resilience plan which astonishingly few folks plan for.

@Townman

I'm on Full Fibre 74 according to my Member's page.

It may well be Fibre 74 is a SOGEA service.

Re: Openreach - argh

Nah, the attachment isn't happening on my phone. Tried different browsers, all no options.

Anyway, what difference does the cable to my house or product that's being set up matter when OR can't even be arsed to turn up?

Re: Openreach - argh

The difference is your expectations of what needs to be done.  If this is FTTP then there is a very high probability that repairing the storm damaged existing service cable (which is the focus of your opening post) will doing nothing to help you.  Consequently accessing any of the direct damage outside the property channels will not move you forwards.  In short your issue over direct contact with Openreach is not relevant to delivering a solution.

One failure to attend hardly paints a picture of a total failure to attend.  You do thing need to ensure that the automated compensation clocks are active.

@oscaracosta

While you can't post the attachment what does it say?

Is WBC FTTP available or does it say Full Fibre not available below the window.

@oscaracosta

You need the browser to use 'Desktop site' to attach a file or insert a picture to a forum reply when using a mobile device.

For google chrome; in a reply screen touch the three dots top right of the screen, other browsers might have three lines.

Re: Openreach - argh

@oscaracosta

So to precis the current status.

The line has been disused for years.

,Some years ago it fell down

You have ordered some form of Internet connection from Plusnet. You have yet to tell us whether it's SoGEA or Full Fibre.

Openreach failed  to turn up to a booked appointment.

One might guess that all that Openreach know is that their records show that there was previously a telephone connection to the property, which has not been used for years. They may not be aware that it's broken.

Forum members have been trying to determine whether you will need this broken line recommissioning or Openreach will need to provide a new fibre connection to the property. Currently, only you have this information.

There's little more can be said short of you providing more information here, which to be honest, will not help the timely provision of a service.

As has been said, you are not Openreach's customer, that is Plusnet. All that you can do to progress this is to ring Plusnet.
