Re: On my third attempt at an engineer visit

Are you overhead or underground feed? Would be interesting to see what the text under the matrix on here: https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome says.

Re: On my third attempt at an engineer visit

Yes, that is overhead - does it say afterwards 'no anticipated problems', or something else?

Re: On my third attempt at an engineer visit

Fix

in which case - if that is true - they will need a cherry-picker/hoist to connect the cable from the pole to your property. If you hear noting from PN  about that by the end of business tomorrow, I suggest you call them and ask for a timescale.

Re: On my third attempt at an engineer visit

I was ''migrated'' (transferred?) from Plusnet to EE on Friday 17th. No contact (''reaching out'') was made,so I rang EE and had help from a Plusnet lady, though with a very unclear line. Despite no possibility of discussing where the new router should go (I am a technology avoider), or how 'fibre' would reach my house, I managed to plug something in.I felt ill all afternoon with the realisation that no-one was going to come round to explain/do the transfer/set up!

No phone from then till this afternoon, when a friend came to use adaptors which had arrived in the post today,ordered weeks ago.He managed to get the phone working,but meanwhile, email,which had worked Friday pm,will no longer send and an annoying thing about relay.plus.net pops up instead. I asked the Greenby bot, which speaks technobabble.

I am paying for this service!!

I don't understand any technical talk about caches and servers but my friend does and has advised that I leave Plusnet/Greenby.More hassle.

Plusnet, you have NOT 'done us proud'.

relay.plus.net will no longer authenticate since you don't have a plusnet account any more!

Replace relay.plus.net with mail.ennail.co ( the greenby server)

Can't enter what you suggest and the pop-up vigorously pops back!

Re: On my third attempt at an engineer visit

@Fuming1

Didn't you receive any emails or leaflets from PlusNet or EE about how to set up your router on your transfer day? If it's just transferring your service from PlusNet to EE, then you just need to replace the old router with the new EE one.

You also need to unplug your landline phone from the old BT/Openreach socket & plug it into the green port on the back of the router. Or, as your friend showed, the adapters can be used if the phone isn't close enough to the router. My EE adapter had a leaflet in the box to show how to set them up.

I don't know what you mean about "how 'fibre' would reach my house". Unless you are having full fibre (FTTP) installed, then no one will come round to show you how to set anything up, as it's just a straight swap of routers.

Re: On my third attempt at an engineer visit

Thank you.

I've taken a photo of the pop-up and the advice (change outgoing server details =?) to send to my friend by mobile. I don't understand or use any of the technical language.

I was toying with the idea of contacting my MP....(hand-written letter,of course,since I can't email)

@Fuming1

Typo as marked above;

Should be mail.enmail.co
