Re: Static IP no longer available?

If you give your ISP your name, and your address. You will be fine.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

Sorry to tell you.

Plusnet is not an ISP (I wish they were because the staff are great)

Everything they command is through the BT Openreach network.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

What are they then, if not an ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

Re: Static IP no longer available?

I don't know why you are sorry for being wrong... They are quite literally an ISP.

Openreach is used for the main connection yes, but with all ISPs there is another layer to route which is why you can see some networks have major traffic issues while using the same backend provider as Openreach or others.

Sorry, makes no sense.

The static IP is bonded to your real address. Not your ISP account.

That's your opinion which is deeply flawed ... or needs objective evidence citing please.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

I'm running out of popcorn and wondering if this is a wind-up...

Openreach are the infrastructure providers ONLY - they have no products to supply.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

You forget Plusnet is owned by BT now.

I don't want to say this, Plusnet has always been a good company. But they don't train their staff well.

The staff are great and get trained on their own. They are far better than most ISPs.

Just cut out the nonsense and tell us what is what instead of reading from a script.

I haven't forgotten - that is one of the reasons I left.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

Yes Plusnet is owned by BT, it's still managed seperately as of now but winding down on some aspects but the top level is still a seperate managed network system ontop of using Openreach infrastructure.
Openreach is legally seperate to BT, that is perhaps your confusion.

Are you under the totally uninformed (and wrong) impression that I am PN staff? Never have been, and at 70 I doubt they'd take me on.😁
