It seems to me that Plusnet have shot themselves in the foot by ditching the email, domain hosting & webspace features for existing customers. Those were the main reasons I have remained with Plusnet since the days of the no-contract FTTP trial.
I have already transitioned my email away from Plusnet before being moved to Greenby. While I still use the free webspace as a photo gallery, the website has not been updated for a long time because the disk space is full. The original disk space allocation is so low it's hardly worth bothering with. If I have to pay Greenby after 2 years I may as well find a different hosting organisation or use flickr.
Like most broadband suppliers, price reductions only apply to new customers. Existing customers are faced with mid term price increases above inflation.
There is now little incentive not to switch when my contract ends.

Whilst it’s hard to disagree with most of your post as far as new vs existing customers are concerned your statement no longer seems to be true?
I was due to get a £3 increase next month my contract being half way through. Out of curiosity I checked the Plusnet web site. It used to be the case that if you put in your postcode and selected your own address the system checked and then said as you are an existing customer log into your account to see your offers. These of course were not as good as those for a new customer. That seems no longer the case!
Bottom line I was due to be paying £33 from next month for 300Mb. Currently Plusnet are offering 900Mb for the equivalent of £30.66 over 24 months (inc a £4 increase next April) when the reward card is taken into account. Phoning to check I took up the deal no arm twisting or threats to leave were required, just a new 24 month contract.
As for free webspace there are a number of ‘add free’ webspace offers not tied to an ISP and larger than the now redundant Plusnet offering. One example https://www.infinityfree.com/ gives 5Gb as opposed to Plusnet 250Mb. There are many others.
My policy for years has been ISP, email, VOIP and webspace all from separate suppliers so if they become rubbish ……………..
