Correct, you do pay in advance for your services. If your bill is generated on 26th Jan, it will be for the following month of service, as well as any additional charges from the previous billing period.
If you were to ask your new provider to take over the line on the last day of your contract, you will not be charged any Early Termination Fees on your final bill. However if you would like them to take over prior to the end of your contract, Early Termination Fees will apply.
