Changing provider to Virgin Media - automatic or ?

Hi there, plusnet has been pretty good for the last few years, but a decision has been made to move over to Virgin Media - not here to berate plusnet or read any virgin bashing, just one simple question..

Does the new fangled automatic service migration apply in this situation? Will Virgin contact plusnet and arrange the termination of the old service?

We're out of contract so there wont be any of that worry, just not sure if them being their own cable network rather than using phone lines might be considered technically a "different service" and therefore they don't need to bother with informing plusnet or whatever, and obviously don't want to start being double billed by two ISPs Smiley

No - Virgin will not apply the GPL rules, you will have to formally advise Plusnet of your intentions.

unless (I think) you are transferring your number to Virgin, but I would still inform PN.

As @jab1 has stated, you will need to inform our customer options team that you are leaving. Their number is 0800 013 2632 and their opening hours are: 

Monday - Friday 8am-8pm
Saturday 9am - 7pm
Sunday 9am - 6pm

yeah we are taking phone service with us.

 

any way to notify without having  to call?

The only other way is via a letter (recorded delivery, for safety) t

good news! got an email from plusnet saying virgin had notified them and it'll all be sorted automatically.

guess you were right about the phone service triggering it Smiley
