Short code SMS?

I just tried to send a text to a radio phone-in (84nnn), and got a 'phone number formatted incorrectly' error.

Looking on here for help, I see there is/was a ban on sending texts to short sms numbers - is that still the case?

Only short codes that work are for those to get a PAC / STAC

No doubt I won't be the first to say this, but  - that's no good.

No doubt this isn't original either - I'll be going back to my previous mobile supplier
