Does anyone know the default PIN for the Plusnet SIMs?

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

Hi JamesMichell,

The default SIM pin's are as follows:

0000

1111

1234

If you are looking for a PUK code, you will need to contact us for this as it is account specific.

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

So the default PIN for setting up security on your voicemail is 0000.

So to set up a lock on your SIM with a PIN the default is either 1234 or 1111.

Can you tell me which one it is, please? I have only one chance left having tried 9999 and 0000.

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

Hi JamesMichell,

Can you please clarify if it is a SIM pin, PUK code or a password you are trying to set up on your handset itself? Are you receiving an error message? If so, what does it say?

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

I want to set security for the SIM. That means if someone puts my SIM in another phone they will be asked for a PIN before they can use the SIM. However to set this up I need to know the default PIN on Plusnet SIM. Without that you can't set a new one.

So under IOS you go to Settings/Phone/SIM PIN and then activate SIM PIN, at which point it asks for your PIN, which in this case is the default one set by Plusnet.

So this is the one I'm trying to find out - the SIM PIN

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

Hi JamesMichell,

The following are the default SIM pin's.

  • 0000
  • 1111
  • 1234

I understand you have already tried one of these, but I'm unable to tell you exactly which one will work as it all depends on the handset itself.

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

A SIM PIN applies to the SIM not the handset, so thanks for your reply but I think we now have the correct answer from Grainfoot

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

Just to clarify JamesMichell that there are 3 different sim pins, we can't advise exactly which one will work, as all 3 work in different handsets.

For example, 0000 could work in a Samsung but not an iPhone and vice versa even though they both have a Plusnet SIM card.

Your correct in saying that a SIM pin is related to the SIM but this was my explanation with regards to the comment 'depending on the handset'

Re: Deafault SIM PIN

I have absolutely no gripe with you; you are presumably being fed inaccurate answers by your IT support, and after all, thanks to to Grainfoot I do have the correct answer.

But the fact is that over the coming months many people will search for or Google the same question and I think it's important that the correct answer is available to them - and not your half correct answer.

The SIM lock PIN is applicable only to that SIM irrespective of the the handset, or who makes it. So Plusnet need to make sure they understand that and have the correct answer to hand when their customers ask for it.

If you still do not understand or accept what I am talking about then see here: http://ee.co.uk/help/safety-and-security/security/activate-a-pin-for-your-sim

or here: http://vodafone.intelliresponse.com/index.jsp?id=1461&question=How+to+find+and+reset+the+PIN+code+on...

or here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201529

but for Plusnet as at 6th December 2016 the correct answer to the question: "what is the default SIM PIN for PlusNet Sim cards" is 1111.

OK?
