Re: Request to join the IPv6 Trial

Excited to be so close to the launch!

Out of curiosity, whan translation mechanisms will the trial use? DS-Lite? If so, will the current static/public IPv4 addresses be preserved?

Re: Request to join the IPv6 Trial

@kashmiri  the static ippv4 address is retained. Additionally you get an ipv6 /56 prefix via dhcpv6 over the pppoe link

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Request to join the IPv6 Trial

Hi Dave,
I'd be interested in joining the trial (<removed>). I have a static ip and a couple of subnets that would use ipv6.

Thanks!
Simon

Re: Request to join the IPv6 Trial

@dave should I have heard something if I've been added to the IPv6 trial, or should it just have started working? 🙂

@archifishal  You will be notified by @dave when additional customers are added to the trial.

Surprised that all these potential applicants are revealing their usernames on a public forum, not a good thing to do.🙄

Yes, had had the same thought - though not sure how else people are expected to identify the account to join the trial (often not the same as the PN forum username).

Sending it by PM is all very well (and practical) (and beneficial from a never-publicly-reveal-your-username type of perspective) but how else is @dave or @plusnettony or whoever, not going to be inundated with PMs which aren’t collectable together in quite the same sort of way as a forum thread allows.

I quite agree that people’s usernames being permanently visible here is not ideal, just not sure what the solution might be.

…. oh, actually, just had an idea.  If people post usernames elsewhere on these forums, there’s usually pretty soon afterwards a ‘note from moderator’ that says “personal info moved to an area that staff can see” (or some such).

So maybe that would work, here (?)

Posts can swiftly be flagged on the ‘report to moderator’ dropdown, so hopefully not cause extra work for Moderators in having to look for visible usernames every time there’s a new post here.

Trawling back through this whole thread might however become a tedious Moderator-task (and sorry, that clearly wasn’t intended) - but no, actually, the same would apply, people can just use RTM on any/every post here where the username is (still) visible.

Many thanks to @Baldrick1 for having swiftly trawled through this entire thread and done that everywhere.
