Re: IPv6 Trial Update

Hey Dave, is there any space on the High touch trial for someone with a static IPV4 address?

Would be keen to start trialling if possible

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

@camchalmers I doubt it - the trial is fully subscribed and in operation.

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

I'm away from base at the moment, but logged in to check something and discovered IPv6 is no longer working for me, no IPv6 global addresses assigned to any of my machines. The router is still set up as before, but it had rebooted last night, so no indication in its logs as to when this might have happened. I last explicitly checked an IPv6 only connection was a few weeks before Christmas, logs indicate the last IPv6 activity was about 2 weeks ago.

I'll check what is happening when I'm back next week, but if IPv6 is still working for everyone else, I know it is something at my end.

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

I'm still on 10 out of 10 on the ip6 checker, Druck.

I'm not using Plusnet's router though.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Edit - the ping checker shows others looking ok too - https://homepages.plus.net/dtomlinson/ping_graphs.html

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

I can't wait to test it this month when the router's remote access sent Configuration IPV6 is done from the system! 🤩 After that, my account's broadband connection will be IPV6 and IPV4! 🚀 #Router #Access #System #Account #Connection
As of April 24th2026, I am now utilizing Sky Broadband, which offers full support for IPv6 addressing. Broadband Status page https://stats.uptimerobot.com/i06TwWNbhx

@MPC

Have you done anything to the Plusnet network side firewall settings?  Have you had a billing issue?

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

Billing - not that I've noticed.  The headline number's not changed since June when I changed to the 900mbps line.

I am not using the plusnet hub unit so haven't got anything from them enabled there.  ( I have a home-brew Debian speaking pppoe directly to the ONT, but I will be swapping over to a Ubiquiti UGC-Fiber in the next week or two as part of some network updates at home )

Well before the IP6 trial I had their deeper network side filtering stuff turned off as I felt it was just going to be a source of very hard to debug potential issues that I had no visibility into.

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

Following up - there did appear to be quite a wobble on the IP4 network for a few of us earlier this evening.

[ Edit: Or maybe with the monitoring platform. ]

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

Since the trial has been running near on a year and, I believe, there was another trial back in 2014, is there any suggestion when the support will be rolled into the standard package?

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

@dave   Is there any update on how the trial is going and when we might expect IPv6 to be more widely available on PlusNet?

Thanks....

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

The Plusnet broadband network is actually split into 2 different networks, we refer to them as high touch and low touch. The high touch network is used for customers that have something different such as a static IP address or have turned the broadband firewall on or are on the old up to 8Mbps (7Mbps?) ADSL broadband.

The high touch trial has been running for a while and is working well, we have no issues reported and every test we've run has passed and there's only 1 thing we're looking at which was reported for BT and EE as well on Reddit.

The low touch trial started 2 weeks ago in 3 very specific parts of the country (parts of Sheffield, Chesterfield and Kingston Upon Thames). I've been testing for the last 2 weeks and seen no issues so we'll be adding 30 staff members to that trial next week to see how that goes.

There are a number of things we still need to do before we can rollout to customers; while the low touch trial started later I actually expect that it will be ready to go first but will be a gradual rollout across the country. I don't want to commit to a date yet but would rather just say that progress is good.

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

Hello,

I was wondering whether the high touch trial is accepting any new people at the moment? I have a static ip on a full-fibre package, so I think that puts me on the high touch network. Thought I'd ask!

Thanks,

Andy

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

@andrew1601 @camchalmers happy to open up a few slots and add you to the trial. Give me a couple of weeks to get it processed.
In case I've missed anyone I'll add a few more too.

Re: IPv6 Trial Update

Amazing thanks! How will I know once it’s active?
