Porting number from Plusnet to Vonage/VoIP service!?

Hi, this is regards to a family member who is with Plusnet and have recently switched their broadband to Zen as Plusnet did not offer a FTTP broadband service where as Zen did.

We are now trying to port the Plusnet Landline number to Vonage, what is a VoIP service. Once the landline number has been ported successfully, they intend to cancel all of their Plusnet services as will no longer be required.

Vonage keep saying that the number porting request has been made and sent to Plusnet but declined, and Plusnet keep saying they have not received the porting request from Vonage!

What can be done about this to resolve the situation?

Regards: Elliott.

@GrottoTree porting the number to voip will automatically cease the landline , and thus any broadband.

Porting shouldnt be a problem, it should generate a 'We're sorry you're leaving...' message from PlusNet. I've sucessfully ported a Plusnet landline to voip ( Sipgate ). Sounds to me like either Vonage arent submitting the port request or the details on the request arent quite right. Its quite strict on getting the details correct on the porting form.

Can someone help with this situation, as we have been told different thing to if it's possible or not, and we are just going around in circles with failed porting attempts and Plusnet saying they are not aware of any such porting attempt!

Very frustrating as this has been going on for over a month now!

@GrottoTree  it should be straightforward. Vonage should have asked you to complete a porting form and a Letter of Authorisation (LOA). The porting form details the number and the current providers name and address together with other details. See the attached examples of the forms supplied when I ported to Sipgate.

Have Vonage supplied similar forms for you to fill out and send to them ?

Once the forms are completed then Vonage should request the number port from your current provider as detailed on the form. The information does have to be complete and correct though, otherwsie the port will fail
