PlusNet (and BT) put up their line rental charges they say due to price increases to them then offer an alternative way of paying which works out less than they were charging before the increase. Now if that's not plain daft I don't know what is.
It seems to me that as there are several companies that can offer low rental charges that also buy from BTW some companies must be making a hell of a lot of money on this home phone lark. No wonder they are jumping on the bandwagon in rip off Britain.
