I'm currently having problems with both broadband FTTC and landline. I'm haven't converted to digital voice yet, so still on the analogue system.
The router has been resetting itself multiple times per day. The landline went off completely earlier, but is now back on, but very noisy. When the phone was completely dead, the broadband was still working, so it couldn't have been a break in the wire at my end. I've done the usual thing of taking off the faceplate of the master socket & connected a wired phone directly to the test socket with no difference.
I used the number 07800008121 & text PHONE, but I get the message "not sent. check options". The only options being to resend or delete.
Is this number still in use?

Thanks for taking the time to highlight this, @RadioFox
This option should definitely still work, and it's PHONE to 07800008121 for landline faults, or HELP to the same number for broadband faults, so it's worth testing this too.
I'll absolutely feed this back to see if we've had any similar reports, but if your issues persist and the second method I recommended doesn't work, you can call us direct on 0330 1239 123.

@Peter_JW After my post yesterday, I did try HELP as well, but that wouldn't send either.
Just in case it was a problem with my phone sending texts, I sent a text to another number & that went through fine.
I haven't tried again this morning, as I'm going out now & will be out for the rest of the day. I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks for checking those extra details, @RadioFox.
I've given this a test from my own phone (EE pay monthly) and all seems well, so it may be that the messages are being blocked at a network level.

I'm with GiffGaff (02 network). I have used this number before. The last time was February 2024 without problems.
I'll see what happens when I try again tomorrow.

I thought I would try the GiffGaff forums to see if anyone else was having similar text problems. I was given a few options to try (+44 instead of 0, trying different text app, disabling 5G, turning off home wifi etc.). None of these worked. A member on there tried texting the number & had no problems.
I tried the number on 2 other spare GiffGaff phones with no problems. Have Plusnet blocked my number for some reason? If so, would it show up straight away on my phone?
Anyway, it looks like I can use a mobile number that's not connected to my account if I text on one of my spare phones & enter my landline number. So I'll try that.🤞

I was surprised that the bot couldn't find any faults on the line. I was asked to send ADVISOR if the usual checks still didn't work (trying test socket etc.) so that someone would ring me. I was told the current wait time was 10 minutes. That was exactly a day ago. Still waiting.
Looks like I'll have to give them a ring.

Well, this is all very odd. I phoned Plusnet. Pressed the option for phone fault. Whilst doing that, the automated message says the easiest way to report a fault is to send a text. A text is sent to my phone. I had the option to hold on for an advisor, or ring off & reply to the text. I thought I would give it one more shot, so rang off & sent PHONE in reply to the text they sent me. This time the text was sent, no problem!
This time the bot DID identify a problem outside my premises. Estimated response time of 30/4/26 23:59.
Haven't got a clue why the previous texts wouldn't go through.

Thanks for the update @RadioFox, definitely a strange one!
Please keep us posted on how things go; we've not seen any further reports of issues with the text service, but I'll definitely keep an eye out.
Fingers crossed everything gets resolved quickly with the fault, too🤞
