Porting out a phone thats part of a phone/ bb package

Sorry another question.

At present I have a phone/ bb contract.   I'm pretty sure I dont want to be transferred to EE, their phone  offering is sounding less than reliable, and they only seem to have all inclusive calls  or payg. Other providers are doing cheaper 1000 minute packages at half the price, which would be plenty.

My original plan was to sign for bb only when present contract ends in November then port out the phone when/if  I had made my mind up to keep it or not..  But its now sounding likely that either I get transferred  in a few weeks or have to sign a new plusnet contract . The option of running to the end of the contract seems to have gone.

Can I actually port it out while its still part of the combined contract or do I have to sign up for bb only, then port it out.

What happens when I do, I assume there will be an activation date for the voip which will then deactivate the landline?

How long do you get to transfer the number, I read that its only on retention (not sure if thats the correct term) for a month and after that its recycled,

You cant port it while its still part of the contrcat, it will cancel the broadband as well

When your broadband only contract starts the landline is deactivated (ceased)

You have 30 days from when the landline is ceased before the number is lost
