Anyone interested? Anyone ever had a go on one before?
I've been reading through the guy's AMA on reddit and it's quite interesting:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/3zt7ul/i_am_palmer_luckey_founder_of_oculus_and_designer/
Well out of my reasonable price range, but I'd love to maybe have a go with one and try it out.

Not that I've experienced it, but I quite like the idea of immersive gaming. Bit pricey and "young" to try now.
FWIW if you have the right phone (which I don't) and don't mind wearing a cardboard box on your head! You can try some immersive demos.
From what I recall from an old thread on sursound (mailing list) , they are using the phone to head track adjusting binaural sound and video of course to position.

I've tried a DK1 before and was good but not easy to get used to at first.
I'm tempted to pick one up though, just to see what it can do

I think HTC Vive could also be a good competitor

This is what I initially thought Steve. Though my friends who are usually cynical about this kinda stuff have tried it said it was brilliantly immersive.

I agree that it is immersive but so many factors make it just a gimmik atm.
Price is an issue for many people and i don't feel like paying $600 for something that i might only use now and again, then you also need a beast of a pc to get the most out of it and many people will not have a pc good enough.
If prices drop over time then it might take off but i don't see it happening any time soon.
