Re: changing interleaving off

Unfortunately we can't directly control the interleaving/DLM on a fibre connection. What kind of pings are you seeing?

Re: changing interleaving off

A ping of over 100 isn't what I'd expect, even with interleaving on.
Can you open a command prompt and type in 'ping bbc.co.uk'
It should give some results like this:
Pinging bbc.co.uk [212.58.244.22] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 212.58.244.22: bytes=32 time=8ms TTL=53
Reply from 212.58.244.22: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=53
Reply from 212.58.244.22: bytes=32 time=7ms TTL=53
Reply from 212.58.244.22: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=53
Ping statistics for 212.58.244.22:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 7ms, Maximum = 11ms, Average = 8ms

Re: changing interleaving off

The first few results don't seem too bad, however it's strange how it then jumps up to 136ms.
Could you do this again with 'ping -t bbc.co.uk' and let it run for around 50 results (Then Ctrl+c to stop it running) so we can see how often it's jumping up.
Thanks.

Re: changing interleaving off

Is that from a wired or wireless connection to your router?

Re: changing interleaving off

wireless, the reason I use wireless is because when I use wired, the internet goes below 1 mb download speed and ping increases for other people who use the internet.

Re: changing interleaving off

Unfortunately then by its very nature a wireless connection will offer increased and unstable latency. You could try seeing if changing wireless channel to one less congested might improve things, and also some routers offer methods to prioritise some types of wireless traffic.

Re: changing interleaving off

Recently, I have been going through each channel, and it seems that only the download/upload speed is affected, not the latency. Also, is there any way I can see which channels are congested and which are not?
Thanks.

Re: changing interleaving off

Download and run "inSSIDer" or other wireless monitor, there are quite a few free ones out there.

Re: changing interleaving off

If you have an Android mobile try using Wifi Analyzer. This lets you move around and cover the whole house and gives you a star rating for the best channel.

I'll try both these methods and see if my ping improves,
Thanks.

Re: changing interleaving off

What I have noticed is that when I get high pings in-game it is only for a few seconds and then lowers itself back to 35-4, but it happens often. I don't know what are causing these lag spikes but it is getting irritating.
Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks.
