Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Amazingly BT Retail seem to think the slow speed issue is solved. Their staff even phone the clients to ask them how things are going.

Shame my fttp circuit is rubbish and PN never ring me.
Perhaps PN should ask BT Retail what they should be doing.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Just had an engineer visit myself. All he was able to do was the standard light tests here as well. He found no issues here either but replaced my ONT at BT's request "just in case".
It's interesting to hear that BT think they may have found the cause to this at the weekend. I personally haven't had any issues with my connection since Friday. It's a shame to hear you're currently having issues George otherwise I'd be optimistic.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

@Herbie
PN asked me to power cycle my equipment so the ONT and router were power cycled at 15:30 today. The speed has improved but I'm not counting my chickens yet.
Openreach also replaced my ONT about 3 weeks ago. The third engineer who called said we might as well have every bit of kit in the house changed to try and stop further home visits. Of course, I had a fourth visit last Saturday so that didn't work. The fault has never been with the equipment in the house but upstream in the exchange which has been the issue with getting a response. Openreach did some work on Saturday in the exchange but my circuit wasn't broken so the bad speed stayed. Hopefully the power cycle has fixed that permanently but only time will tell.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

BTW speedtest download line speed has gone up to 76Mbps by this morning.
Hopefully it stays this way. It will take a few weeks to prove it as the issue has been re-appearing at any time up to 2 weeks after regaining full speed.
Also first time in a while that speedtest.net results against the Milton Keynes server and  the London server have shown very similar results

* Edited to add speedtest.net results and clarify BTW speedtest used for main speed figure.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Bad news this morning. BTW speedtest down to 66Mbps, speedtest.net London 70Mbps and Milton Keynes 76.Mbps which is not good as this is how the problem started last time.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

The pattern is that for the last two working days, the line speed is down in the morning before 9am but returns to full speed by 10am.  No issue on Saturday or Sunday at this time.

JTG6 experiencing the same - https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/FTTP-Problems-0-86Mbps-down/m-p/1167682#M12...
I guess it's back to the drawing board on this one again...

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

BTW speedtest is now reading 0.00 Mbps. Cannot run either thinkbroadband or speedtest.net as not enough speed to get the testers on the page.

Support ticket updated.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Speed tests are nearly back to normal this morning (80/20 link).

It is 10 weeks tomorrow since this issue started and we are no closer to a solution.

BTW 78.01Mbps
thinkbroadband

speedtest.net

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

I also had issues the same issues with my connection last night. Back to normal by this morning as usual. Updated by support ticket too.
Such a shame, I was beginning to think we'd seen the last of these problems.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Well as nothing seems to have been fixed, why would the issue go away?
A card reboot in the server doesn't solve any issues that it has with its software or hardware.
And that took nearly 9 weeks to do!

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Something seemed to happen to your connection around 4am. Maybe something else was rebooted in the exchange?

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Who knows.
Yes my connection went down at 4am according to my router but I have no idea why. The router is really stable and has never dropped and reconnected by itself. Only when asked to by me or when something happens in the exchange.
Hopefully Plusnet will find an answer ?

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

My router reports connection uptime of 6 days, 22 hours so apparently my connection never technically went down. Not that it was usable for much of anything last night.
