Super slow this morning

Wife and I both noticed while trying to start our day (we both work from home)

 

Everything is really slow to load. I've done several speed tests and right now the download appears to be fine-ish but upload is toast and this is killing everything. Hoping someone at plus.net can take a peek and see if anything is jumping out at them, maybe run some tests please? Smiley

Here is what I've tested/tried so far:

1. Rebooted ont and my router.

2. Swapped DNS From default to google (8.8.8.8)

3. Tested with speed test and fast.com both give terrible results

4. Swapped ethernet cables to brand new ones I had on hand (I always keep some around just in case).

5. Tested with wifi, everything is still slow, download is lower mbps of course but upload is still less than 2mbps as it is with ethernet.

 

Everything was working fine last night when we went to bed.

I've just sent off a text, Identifying my account now. It takes a minute to get going I think.

Says running tests and will send me the results in the next 30 minutes or so. Pretty handy.

You would hope so, but.....

It does seem a lot of the plusnet web pages haven't been updated in a long while.  The other advice on there is to call: Contact our team  Call us on 0330 1239 123,         but people seem to say it can be a long wait (I assume esp after the weekend...!)

Chatting with an advisor now.

 

I think they are going to send out a plusnet router to test with since I am using a tplink ax1800 and they cannot really interact with it and I haven't had the original router since I had fibre installed. ugh.

 

It's been great up until today.

I am a little doubtful a new/different router will make much difference - it may - but upload issues are tricky to solve, which is why they are never guaranteed, unlike download, merely estimated.

@RHines is there anything on your network that could be doing a backup to the cloud ?

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

This is really quite an odd problem with full fibre.

I might backup the router configuration and then factory reset it. You will then need to enter the Plusnet credentials again but it should then behave as "out of the box". See if that helps.

If not you can then reload the old configuration.

I would also just use one device connected by a cable and see how that performs.

If it's still not working it sounds like some broader issue with your local Openreach network.

Nah nothing like that. It's weird it's totally dead now. I've got the plus net router on the way. I am going to back up the config and reset the router for funsies, it's a good suggestion. Certainly can't make it worse. lol

ah my neighbor just told me he's having issues too. This isn't localized to me. Maybe someone did some work over night in the cabinet.

FTTP doesnt go anywhere near the cabinet

No the ONT is still connected (power, FON and LAN), router is reporting it's connected fine but I cannot access anything. Everything fails to connect/ping/tracert.

 

My neighbor is reporting the same issues, he's with BT Directly rather than through PlusNet. So hopefully they'll be able to report the fault to openreach.
