FF 900 speed issue

A few weeks ago now i upgraded my BB up to Full Fibre 900, expecting (not unreasonably) better speed. However, my BB speedtests show it has never touch even 500, and is often stuck in the high 300s, occasionally mid400.

But never even 500.

Can anyone please advise.

Thank you

Re: FF 900 speed issue

@sniper666 are those tests wired or wireless ?

Wireless speeds will max out at around 400 to 450Mb with the Hub 2

Can i move back without penalties please?

Thank you for the response

You would need to talk to customer support about that

It may possible to get faster speeds by using your own router. The Plusnet Hub 2 is only Wifi 5 capable. As long as your device(s) are Wifi 6 (or better) capable then getting a Wifi 6(or better) router would allow faster speeds. For example on my Wifi 6 capable laptop I can achieve 750 to 800Mb with a Wifi 6 router whereas it was 400Mb with Wifi 5

Its difficult for me to recommend one as I use OpenWrt which is definitely not for the non-techy.

I'm sure other less techies will chirp in with recommendations.

But first, are your devices Wifi 6 capable or better ?, if they arent then there's no point in upgrading the router

Re: FF 900 speed issue

Chasing higher speeds with wireless is a tricky thing.

With the latest device in close proximity to a very capable WiFi router you CAN get speeds in excess of 500Mb/s but really you need wired connections.

The speeds are not actually mis-sold but expectations could be set more clearly.

What you do get with higher download speeds (and can be useful) is higher upload speeds.

Perhaps think about the value of that before making a change.
