Request to Cancel Copper Line

I am wanting to cease my copper line as it doesn't get used but would like the FTTP to remain.

Could someone advise me how to go about this.

Regards

Re: Request to Cancel Copper Line

Hi Adam,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

Can I confirm that this department will indeed know what I'm talking about as calling the standard number has presented me with a lot of issues in the past as people do not seem to know about the fibre trials program.

Also is my understanding correct that if the copper line is ceased that the fibre will remain with a small surcharge on the remaining price minus the line rental charge?

Regards

Re: Request to Cancel Copper Line

Just given that number a call Adam, and as I suspected they don't have a clue what I'm talking about.

Are you able to carry this out and give me a call on [Removed]?

Regards

Re: Request to Cancel Copper Line

Hello there.

I've raised this ticket on your account with a bit of info including early termination charges etc.

Yeah, your broadband package will increase by £2.50.

EDIT:

@xennltd Sorry, scrap the ETC's bit. It looks like the product change to FTTP started a new contract on your account, but looking back I can see you should be out of contract.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Request to Cancel Copper Line

Ok so be clear, I am not in contract for the phone line and won't incur any further line rental charges as per private question.

If this is indeed the case.

Please cancel the copper line if it does not incur any line rental charges.

Please increase the broadband cost by 2.50.

That's right.

Just so we can keep this logged on your account, can you reply to the ticket [from above] with that?

Re: Request to Cancel Copper Line

@Gandalf

Interesting thread. Hopefully when FTTP arrives on my street in the near future (DP already installed) it'll be straight forward to drop my phone line as I use BT (on a very old ADSL package).

However, a couple of my neighbours who will also be switching to FTTP are also considering dropping their phone line and both are with PlusNet.

Could the following be the sensible way to do it.

a) Post on here to attract the attention of an FTTP trained advisor.

b) Ask for a ticket to be raised to advise on dropping the line and any associated costs.

c) Respond to the ticket so that a written record is held on the instructions given to PlusNet

d) Advisor then initiates the line drop.

Re: Request to Cancel Copper Line

@Gandalf Thanks. Would it be worthwhile adding this (or something like it) to the FTTP FAQ's? The probability is the question will be asked again in the future.

I also previously posted this suggestion for FTTP documentation.
