Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

I'm not certain that wouldn't still lead to a PSTN cease Huh

I know that new Plusnet connections are broadband and phone, but if people have not recontracted since this was introduced there will still be some broadband-only with line rental from a third party.

Permitting line rental migration out so customers can then migrate from FTTC to FTTP would be a simple solution.

In theory it might be - but if the PlusNet system isn't set up to handle this then I suspect it would anything but.

I think you're on a loser here. They're not going to start messing around with the system to help out a relative few customers.

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

@tdw42  There may be some legacy customers still on a Broadband only service but I suspect it would be a very small number. Doesn't everyone renew their contracts to keep the discounts going? The out of contract price for FTTC (and phone line) is ridiculous.😩

But there is the catch !

If like I am on a "broadband only service", Plusnet won't renew my contract without forcing me to into porting my phone line and associated call charging to them, therefore a renewed contract can never be a continuation of a "broadband only service", so there is nothing I can do to get an ongoing discount if I want to keep my phone service with another provider.

In fact I'm not sure that I can make any changes to my out of contract FTTC only service, unless I transfer the phone to them.

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

@Anonymous  That's exactly the point I was trying to make, the only customers on Broadband only are paying out of contract prices as any re-contract would require taking the phone and broadband.

Any particular reason why you want to stay with a different phone provider? Must cost more overall with no discount on the FTTC service.

That is an interesting "use case" in the FTTP upgrade limitations: @Gandalf where a user has only broadband service from Plusnet would the upgrade to FTTP journey leave the existing PTSN service intact?

If yes, then it should be the case that users in @Anonymous 's circumstances ought to be able to migrate to FTTP (if available) whilst retaining their existing phone number - to do whatever they wished with it!

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

@Townman

Yeah that would work, because we cannot cease a phone service which isn't provided by us.

FTTP isn't available for @Anonymous so the only way we'd be able to renew their FTTC contract is by moving their phone to us.

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

just had a go at upgrading our business fttp trial, seems at the moment only residential customers can upgrade to the faster products (we have 2 lines here one with zen at 330/50 and PN at 80/20)

looking forward to getting the PN line up to 300/50 just got to keep an eye when available unless anyone has some insider?

Cheers

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

@cameldazzler  Doesn't look too good for business accounts,  those on the trial are stuck with no FTTP upgrade on offer.☹️ See post #17 in this thread

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

Luckily we are already on the trial and have been for quite some time, we are just looking to up the speed as 300/50 is available on our exchange

having spoken to the business team it sounds like it should be available within weeks, so just got to keep an eye on here i guess!

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

@cameldazzler

Products on the Trial can't be amended - the bodges used to set them up no longer work. Hence you can't change speed on a Business account.

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

Hiya, there may very well be a plan, but I just haven't got anything to share.

I'm happy to let people know if or when I do though.

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

@cameldazzler You must have read my post before I edited it as I had not made it clear that no upgrades are possible for Business customers on the trial. Have a look at the linked thread.

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre

I'm really sorry for the confusion.

It's not currently possible to offer FTTP on a business account outside of the trial but that may change.
