Installed yesterday by BT engineer who had "never installed one of these routers before, we always use BT Homehubs". He also checked and confirmed that the installation was not a full service installation, just connect the modem & router and confirm they talk to each other.
He left before the connection to the internet had been made, but it wasn't too much trouble. Also, be didn't know Plusnet was owend by BT!
initial speed test was 21Mbps which dropped to 9Mbps in the evening. Lower than the estimated 32Mbps prior to installation, but significantly better than the 54kbps I was getting on Sunday!
I'll carry out more tests over the coming days and let you know the results. Is Speedtest.com the best one to use, or should I stick with speedtester.bt.com?
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. We've noticed that the speed isn't always the fastest on day 1 so reboot the router and modem once a day and it should increase in a couple of days. There are some speed issues on the BT network which should be fixed by Friday.
The BT speedtest will give you a bit more information about the connection than other tests. Try mybroadbandspeed.com as well, that's our tester so won't be subject to any congestion on the Internet.

The speed has varied, especially in the evenings when it's been slow, so I ran a speed test this morning:
444kbps - not good!
I'll reset the modem & router and test again later.
Cheers

I've been running speed tests for the last few days and have the following results:
Date Time Down Kbps Up Kbps Test site
05-Dec 19.02 4818 6644 BT Speedtest
05-Dec 19.55 600 130 Speedtest.com
07-Dec 9.05 2188 3870 BT Speedtest
07-Dec 9.10 8930 7880 Speedtest.com
07-Dec 18.30 8156 7404 BT Speedtest
07-Dec 18.35 10590 7860 Speedtest.com
07-Dec 22.35 685 2335 BT Speedtest
07-Dec 22.38 2350 2030 Speedtest.com
08-Dec 8.32 3315 7885 BT Speedtest
08-Dec 8.35 2420 5430 Speedtest.com
With most of the BT Speedtest results I've been prompted to run the further tests to exclude the Plusnet network, but as I'm running Windows 7, it doesn't seem to like that OS.
These results are well below the initial speed and are also not the anticipated 32Mbps estimated before the trial.
I haven't rebooted the modem and router daily as I'm not clear whether BT would take it to mean that the line was unstable and reduce the line speed.
A lot of data for a post I know, but at least the details are there!
Any suggestions?
Cheers
