How does it work?

Hi, I am switching in a couple of weeks. It says an engineer won't come so how does it work? Obviously I plug in the router they are sending me but it mentions an ONT and using the existing white box on the outside of my home but I don't think I have one.

What doI need to do? Do I need to book an engineer?

@DonnaLalek

Have a look at the following (use the Address version if no phone).

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

What does it say below the results window about the Full Fibre install.

Re: How does it work?

@DonnaLalek   If there is an ONT it will be inside the house see Openreach ONT

Normally when you order Plusnet would check the ONT is there (as long as it is powered on)...  there may also be a grey CSP box on the outside of your house (but not always.

If you don't have an ONT already installed you will need an engineer to instal the fibre and ONT.  This would normally be arranged when you order by your ISP (Plusnet.)

Re: How does it work?

Thank you. I know coverage is decent here. I just don't understand how it can be set up with no engineer especially when I don't have the equipment they said they will utilise to do it

@DonnaLalek

What exactly does the Checker say about Full Fibre below the results window.

This tells you what equipment OR think you have. Answer this and we can advise on a course of action.

Re: How does it work?

It says there is a ONT with no spare ports so a new one may be ordered

Re: How does it work?

If there is a 'paper clip' image below the reply window, click it and follow the prompts.

Thanks - this is what I was looking for.

It confirms OR think you have an ONT installed. Is it power up with lights visible?

Re: How does it work?

I'm not at home. The engineer fitted my old broadband and I have never had to look at it. I'll check when I get home, thanks

Re: How does it work?

OK, if you are using a mobile device, select the 'desktop' version of the site.

As @bmc says though, it appears you have an ONT installed.
