Re: Full fibre 300 Getting les than 100

Will be interesting to see if this works, odd still the fact I'm getting a slower speed (Via LAN) and the only thing that has changed is the service provider and router.

Hi @Ian1964

I'm just checking in to see how you're getting on and if you've seen any improvements?

Re: Full fibre 300 Getting les than 100

Hi Chris

The USB Ethernet adapter has produced speeds of just over 300Mbps so full speed on my laptop so the router is working as it should.

I had forgotten that I had a call back from Plusnet booked for yesterday, this did help as the lady made some changes to the router settings and increased my speed to 120Mbps.

In my lounge I have two double sockets next to each other one thing I hadn't tried was moving the Powerline adapter to another socket on doing this my speed has increased and as of now is 140Mbps.

I'm going to take the face plates off the sockets and check the connections. I've also ordered a new Powerline kit that's coming today (TP-Link PG2400PK) I'm hoping this will help with the speed, if not maybe a WIFI dongle for the PC my be my only option to get full speed.

Thanks everyone with your help so far.

I really appreciate you keeping us updated @Ian1964.

Hopefully, your new TP-LInk powerline kit turns up today, and if it does, let me know if you have any further success with improving your speed.

Re: Full fibre 300 Getting les than 100

@Ian1964

Be interested how you get on with the TP-Link PG2400PK.

For Windows to check the current speed of your connection you can use this powershell command

Get-NetAdapter | where Status -eq "Up" | Format-List -Property Name, Status, InterfaceDescription, *LinkSpeed

For me I get

Name : WiFi
Status : Up
InterfaceDescription : Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9461
LinkSpeed : 433.3 Mbps
ReceiveLinkSpeed : 433300000
TransmitLinkSpeed : 433300000

I have a Full Fibre 900/100 connection, so you can see I have a speed limitation due to the WiFi adapter. Something I have to live with !

LinkSpeed is higher than  the achieved speed due to overheads.

Will leave it the rest of the day to see if the speed increases further.

Sorry @Ian1964 I'm unable to open those images on my computer.

Others may have better luck though.

Are you able to describe your powerline please?

Re: Full fibre 300 Getting les than 100

With the old Powerline system I was getting a speed of 133Mbps

The new kit is giving me about 211Mbps so a nice increase, but I might have to send the powerline kit back because my laptop in the same room over wifi can get up to the 290s Mbps.
