Email after upgrading

I am looking at upgrading from ADSL broadband to full fibre,

But want to be sure I can still continue using Plusnet email service.

Spoke to someone on helpline who said they would email me such confirmation - but nothing.

So, can I still use Plusnet email if I upgrade to full fibre?

John

Re: Email after upgrading

@JIP

E-mail and any other add ons you have are unaffected by upgrading to Full Fibre.

However, you lose your landline and number.

Re: Email after upgrading

Thanks - was aware of losing landline, but need to hang onto email stuff for now.

Would really like some official confirmation before switching.

Re: Email after upgrading

@JIP

It's been pretty clear on many threads that it's either e-mail or phone number.

For the number, you sign up as a new customer, select keep phone number and then port your number out asap after FTTP is up and running.

As for e-mail, PN no longer offer it to new customers or those who depart. There was rumours early this year that PN plan to close their e-mails full stop.

Just to-day, there was news that PN have stopped offering business accounts and will shutter exisitng onew in a years time.

Re: Email after upgrading

Hey there @jlp and thank you for raising this query Smiley @bmc is right and it won't be affected as all we are doing is upgrading the account. Let me know if you have any other queries.

Re: Email after upgrading

Thanks for the reply

I also raised a ticket with similar enquiry - and have received a very ambiguous reply

Was told that Webmail SHOULD be continued, not WILL be continued. I have since asked for definite confirmation, not "Should be" and await reply.

They also referenced that WEBMAIL should be continued, but I never asked about WEBMAIL

I want to know that the email service I use - using an email client (Outlook365) that uses Plusnet incoming and outgoing servers - mail.plus.net and relay.plus.net will DEFINITELY be available if I switch to FullFibre.

Been with Plusnet for years, but no longer trusting the ambiguity in their replies. Seem to be dodging a straight answer.

Re: Email after upgrading

@JIP IF you are merely UPGRADING an existing account from FTTC to FTTP, then the mail service you already have and use WILL continue, unless and until Plusnet make a decision to remove the mail service altogether - was has been hinted at to be a possibility.

Re: Email after upgrading

Thanks for the reply. I now await a response to my updated ticket to get that officially.

But it seems likely that the whole email service is going to be dropped eventually.

If so, I would for the first time in years look at alternatives to Plusnet as a provider.

All of my contacts (a lot of them) have my Plusnet email address as the route to communicate with me.

So sad to watch

Re: Email after upgrading

No problem, but that is the situation - at the moment, so long as you are merely upgrading, all ancillary services remain as they are/were. We don't know, and those who reply to you won't know, what the future 'look' of Plusnet is going to be - that is in the hands of higher management.

Many other ISPs don't offer a 'free' email service as standard - mine for instance, while they still do, have indicated that they are likely to withdraw it, or make it chargeable. 99% of my contacts have a PN contact address for me, although I will be moving those I wish to keep to my current provider in the New Year, merely so I can do it in a controlled manner over an extended period, rather than having to 'rush' the transfer.

Re: Email after upgrading

Thanks again - your plans fit what I am starting to think - begin to arrange something else for email - jump before pushed.

But once I've done that I no longer feel a need to stay with Plusnet. So will be looking at other options for first time in years.
