A couple of full fibre questions

I'm having full fibre installed tomorrow.  I just have a couple of small questions.  If the wall-mounted ONT gets accidentally turned off, is it just a simple thing of it going through a boot cycle (for want of a better word) before it's ready to use again?  Also if I wanted to later down to the line use my own router, what would I need to look for?

Re: A couple of full fibre questions

Fix

1. Yes the ONT just boots very quickly when powered off and on. Nothing else for you to do.

2. Yes you can use any router as long as it has a WAN port and supports PPPoE as that is how the router logs into your Plusnet account.

Thank you, that's put my mind a little at ease.

Re: A couple of full fibre questions

Glad to help as I've been on Plusnet FTTP from the trial since back in 2014 and always used my own router after the first few months. It's easier than the copper technology (we had a 3Mbps ADSL line before that) and more reliable. If you have a power cut for whatever reason then the ONT just bounces back afterwards.
