Re: 80/20 FTTC trial

@WWWombat: Thanks for that. I was going to rerun it wired when I get  home again, and will try the BT speedtester page you mentioned to see the extra info.
The install was 12/1, so I suppose it depends on what profile they stuck it on at the time. I'd assume that as it is recent, it's most likely to be on the 17a, so should see a bump as it was hitting the 40/2 limits on sync.

The 20mbps PN profile is indeed unlimited, we use it as an interim measure until profiles are built all the way up to 80mbps on the FTTC product Smiley

Re: 80/20 FTTC trial

unbound, the sync speed of your line is currently showing as:
Downstream Speed 59.5 Mbps
Upstream Speed 20.0 Mbps
So you should see a bit more speed hopefully. A couple of people didn't see the full speed immediately though and had to switch the BT modem and router off for a minute. BTW saw an issue where the profile on their side wasn't updating and the easiest way of forcing a reset was to just power off for a minute. Worth a try to see if that makes any difference.
ashgeo - thanks for all the test results that's really useful. We saw some inconsistencies in the speed tests at these kinds of speeds on FTTP too, it gets much harder to measure as accurately the faster the speeds get it seems.

Thanks for the numbers Dave.
I tried running the BT speedtester this morning, and just got a busy notification (rather amusing at 730 in the morning), but I did do a real download test and it seemed to be giving that sort of rate (actually giving a higher rate, I was getting reported download of 6.6MBs sustained for 10mins), so that's looking good. That was wired though, so I think wifi is bottlenecking a bit.
Upstream is a case of needing to rebuild my aging XP box first into something that will sensibly supply some data - It's a good excuse to change it into the linux server I've been meaning to covert it to Smiley
I'll try a restart of the modem as well and see what it thinks as well - Ta.

Re: 80/20 FTTC trial

I was part of the FTTC trial and would be happy to be part of the 80/20 FTTC trial if the FARNHAM exchange gets enabled.

Re: 80/20 FTTC trial

Is anyone experiencing problems with the BT Speedtester (http://speedtester.bt.com/)?
I've done several tests over the past couple of days and it won't register above around 38meg down. I Know that I can currently get just under 65meg down (am on the 80/20 trail)...
Speedtest.net consistently reports in the range 64-65meg.

Re: 80/20 FTTC trial

Hi guys, we're not taking any more on for the time being, but keep an eye out for a blog at the beginning of February where we will be advising on how to get it and what/ if any costs may be incurred.

Hi ashgeo,
It should work fine on the BT speedtester, does it do that every time?

Re: 80/20 FTTC trial

Is there a list of enabled exchanges so I can check if I can take part when there's more spaces or it "goes live" ?

Is there anyone on the 80/20 trial using a third party modem-router?
